Why is real estate so cheap in Dallas Fort Worth, Texas? I'm watching property virgins and other housing shows, and everytime I see someone looking for real estate in DFW or Texas area in general, the houses are freaking cheap. Like a brand new house for $120,000. Why is dallas so cheap? The same house in Toronto would cost $1m. Is dallas really that terrible of a place to live?

Cheapest, Fastest way to become a real estate agent or appraiser in Texas? I've been thinking about becoming a real estate agent for the longest time and now that I am having the hardest time finding a job now is the best time to start this idea... I don't have a lot of funding to put into this but want to do it legit so that I can actually be hired by someone once I get my actual license. I've checked out local colleges (I live in Dallas, Fort Worth Texas) and they take like 2 years to complete the course... I'm hoping that someone has a better idea and no better place to ask then yahoo! answers :-) I've even thought about being an appraiser also but not sure about that either.... Another part of this question is: Is it really worth it to become a Real Estate Agent? Is there really "work" for them or is the market overrun right now? Anything would help, Thanks in advance :-)

I want to create a non-profit real estate investment business..? Basically, I'm wanting to have a not for profit real estate business (if that makes sense) to buy older homes, fix them up, and provide them as affordable housing to low income families. Know any good websites for real estate in texas with acreage? Looking for a larger home, 2500sq ft or more, on at least 20 acres and a large pond or lake. Can be anywhere in Texas. Fixer upper or not. I have looked in Houston and Dallas area...prefer country setting, not in or extremely close to large town. Please help!
Out of state real estate investing - good idea or not? I live in Phoenix, which according to CNN/Money List is a 41.9% overvalued market. http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/13/real_estate/overvalued_housing_markets/ But looking at the list, I see there are many areas (like Dallas, TX) which are still quite undervalued. I figure it would be a good investment to buy property in those areas. I can get a 10% CAP Rate investing in Texas, which is a great rate and makes me think I can't go wrong. (I could never find that kind of return in Phoenix or California). So my question: do you think investing in out of state real estate, in "undervalued" areas is a good idea? Or should I avoid real estate altogether since we are entering an uncertain market? If there are any experienced investors out there, please chime in with your thoughts. Thanks!
Real Estate company name? My mom and I are trying to think of something to name her loan and real estate company. It can be cute or creative or serious! It's based in Dallas.

I've wanted to be a real estate agent since I was like 15 years old. and in high school I took an interior design class that had a section on real estate and that got me even more interested. So my plan was to take real estate classes after I graduate high school. Well, I graduated in 2008 and the economy is bad so I ended up just taking classes at my community college. dfw real estate & commuting questions? Hi, we're moving to DFW sometime in Aug / Sept. Trying to find out about neighborhoods around Dallas that are affordable, nice houses, and have a decent commute on DART. We were thinking Mesquite or Garland. Any other suggestions?
Real Estate problems...? I have just bought a home. We closed on the 29th of Feburary. Once we moved in we realized the plumbing was bad. When the upstairs toliet is flushed, I get sewer water coming up in kitchen sink & threw the laundry drain. The seller did not disclose this, nor was it in the inspection. Can I sue to get the problem fixed, or is it all on me? THis was an FHA Loan, & it was not a AS IS Home. My home owners Insurance says it was pre-exhisting & they can't pay for it. I had 2 plumbers come out, & say that I have severly deteriorated pipes under my slab. Which is affecting my foundation. Cost of repair is anywhere between $7000-$9000 depending on what more they find after they jackhammered up my home. I live in the Dallas fort worth area.
Real Estate Investment Fraud in North Carolina? I sent $20K to McGee Investment Group in NC last March 2008 to invest on an East Plaza Development project in Kansas City, MO. Here is what happened - 1.) McGee received my $20K 2.) McGee said he gave the $20K to the builder of the property in MO. (The plan was for me to receive $3500/mo for two years plus the principle investment of $20K at the end of two years.) 3.) Two months later, Thomas McGee said there was a problem with the builder in MO. 4.) I sent numerous emails (for weeks) requesting information about the reason they had a problem in details. 5.) Finally, Thomas McGee said he had a private holding company (He will not tell me the name of the holding company) to buy me (investors of East Plaza development) out. He said he got the report from the holding company. 6.) Without any solid information or report, Thomas said the holding company offered me $32K to buy me out plus $11K at the end of two years after the project is completed in MO. 7.) I waited for months and sent emails and emails requesting him to send us the report. He gave me some bullshit stories like "My computer crashed", "I completely forgot", and "The report was sent" and I never got any report and the later he said "it must be lost in the PO". 8.) Finally, we had enough and demanded $20K to be sent back to us. He said he would do that. 9.) Thomas changed stories like "due to the bad economy, we have to close all my properties in order to pay all of my investors including you" 10) This month (Nov), he said he has been sending checks and transferred funds to my investors all week and let me see where we stopped today where you money is located" 11.) I told him "I can have to talk to my attorney about this and he said "he would be welcomed to have your attorney to talk to my legal council about this". This whole thing forced me to work second job to pay for the $20K loan. I had a difficult finding attorney who will take action against them in NC from Dallas where I live. Any advice what I need to do first? We REALLY need the $20K back! Thank you!
SHOULD I MOVE TO DALLAS FROM NY? I live in NY (The Bronx) and I'm considering moving to Dallas, TX where some of my family is. Anyhow, is it a good place to go when you are single, in your early 30's and just looking for a different life compared to the crazy, party life of NY. Not to mention the fact that it's such a HIGH COST OF LIVING and the REAL ESTATE is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE here! How is the job market there? Any advice??
